As the owner of the Southern Illinois Miners, Jayne brought baseball back to the area in the summer of 2007.
The Miners state-of-the-art home facility, Rent One Park, was constructed for the team’s inaugural season and saw a Frontier League record 259,392 fans come through the gates in 2007.
Under her leadership, the Miners led the Frontier League in attendance each of the franchise’s first four seasons, have been named “Frontier League Organization of the Year” three times (2007, 2009 & 2010) and captured the franchise’s first Frontier League Championship after the 2012 season.
Jayne grew up in and around Roxana, Ill. She attended Roxana High School and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in business management from St. Leo University.
Jayne managed her family’s business for several years. Another large part of her professional life has been spent assisting her husband John in the creation and operation of his successful law firm, The Simmons Firm, LLC (now known as Simmons Hanley Conroy, LLC).
Jayne was also part of the original investment group that purchased Alton Steel, Inc. Alton Steel is now one of the most successful mini-mills in the United States. Since starting a family, Jayne has devoted her life to raising her four children.
Now that her kids are becoming more self sufficient, Jayne is looking forward to spending more time managing her business interests – first and foremost the Miners and Rent One Park. Jayne is also active her church.
