As Director of Broadcasting & Media Relations and the "Voice of the Miners," Jason Guerette enters his sixth season with the Miners in 2019.
Since joining the team in 2014, he has lent his voice to some of the great moments in franchise history, including the club's first two no-hitters and three straight division titles from 2014-16. Before coming to Southern Illinois, Jason started his baseball announcing career by providing play-by-play and media relations for the Northwest Indiana Oilmen (Midwest Collegiate League) and East Texas Pump Jacks (Texas Collegiate League).
A New Jersey native, Jason graduated from Seton Hall University in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and a minor in Broadcasting & Visual Media. While he was there, Jason was a four-year member of WSOU, Seton Hall’s award-winning student radio station, calling games for Seton Hall men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer and baseball, including the baseball team’s run to the 2011 Big East Championship.
Jason currently resides in Jersey City, New Jersey. During the baseball offseason, he provides play-by-play for men's and women's soccer at The New Jersey Institute of Technology as well as women's basketball at Manhattan College, while also serving as the public address announcer for Seton Hall women’s basketball. In addition, he works “behind the scenes” as a board operator for Westwood One’s coverage of the NFL, NCAA Football and NCAA Basketball, including the last four NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournaments.
Jason is a devout fan of the New York Yankees, New Jersey Devils, Brooklyn Nets and, of course, the Seton Hall Pirates. When not watching sports, he enjoys listening to all different kinds of music and spending time with his family.
